So this is it: the final walk in Essex, the last one in East Anglia. After promising myself I'd finish the region in 2000 and 2001 I finally finished it before 2002 is out.

Its always good to have company on these landmark walks so on ruck-sac sharing duty today was Jon. Jon was also on park-your-car-at-the-end-so-we-can-drive-back-to-mine duty, but forgot this meant bringing his keys on the walk too. Ah well, "Taxi!"

[Jon and pab at Dovercourt]

It was a three-staged walk. First along the southern boundary of Hamford Water. Then a little way inland along fields and across roads before heading back to the coast again for the final miles along the seafront into Dovercourt.

There must be a reason I don't remember much of the walk. Was the scenery so boring? Was the conversation so enthralling? Was my mind just fixed on finishing the county?

Now that I'm done, where next? I've run out of coastline within easy reach of home so I imagine the pace at which I'm completing segments will slow down. The coming months will show whether I'm really committed to this project. (Will I move house just to be nearer stretches I've not walked?)
