Still water
« Maylandsea | Tollesbury »
Matt's up for the day, so for once I'm not walking alone.
After the drawn-out trek along the south bank of the Blackwater, I'd hoped to complete the north bank in one day. That wasn't to be. We made it to our destination of Tollesbury, but without completing the loop round the marshes to the east of the village. (To be honest, if we'd tried I think I would have died. Thankfully Matt pointed this out.)

Salt and mud

Finally.
I've reached the first bridge across the Blackwater and the next walk will take me out towards the sea again.
Maldon's where Dad got his first deputy-headship (at a school where coincidentally he taught maths to someone I now work with, twenty years later). Maldon's the reason our family spent five years living in Chelmsford.

On the trail again
« Eastbourne | Rye »
The paths have been open since mid-summer, but somehow today is the first day I've walked since February. It's an easy walk to get going again: the sea-front through Bexhill, St Leonards-on-Sea and Hastings.
