West Sussex... tick
« Goring by Sea | Peacehaven »
One final walk with Mum and Dad then to complete the week. From the Palace Pier in Brighton to Rottingdean. This time we parked in Rottingdean, took the bus into Brighton and walked back to the car.

The prom
« Bognor Regis | Rottingdean »
It turned out to be a not-quite-continuous prom. There's a gap in Goring, but once you get into Worthing you're on definite tourist town territory.
Worthing, Lancing, Shoreham, Southwick, Portslade, Hove and Brighton.

Final stretch of green
« Selsey | Brighton »
I knew that much of the Sussex coast is a string of towns. Today I crossed the last piece of open land before the Seven Sisters. On reaching it I discovered it's not the open farmland I'd expected, but rather a golf course. Still, it's good to have variety.

Bill to Bognor
« Fishbourne | Goring by Sea »
Pagham Harbour is the last major body of inland water I'll come across on this stretch of coast. It's a bird sanctuary east of Selsey with a good path along the shore. Unfortunately, not being an ornithologist I can find little to say about it.

The sea again
« Emsworth | Bognor Regis »
After yesterday's short day at the east end of this gap, today I was back at the west end determined to get some miles under my belt.

Hardy handbrakes
« Brighton | Cuckmere Haven »
Dad was keen to walk with me this week. He's not up to great distances now, so a stretch along the sea-front east of Brighton made sense. The A259 follows the coast closely here, and a regular bus service gave us the option of cutting the walk sort at any moment.

Around the harbour
« Portsmouth | Selsey »
Another week off, time to see if I can close the gap between Emsworth and Peacehaven
During this first walk I didn't see the sea at all. The walk essentially involves tracing the outline of a number of inlets that feed into Chichester Harbour.
