Enough
« Gosport | Fishbourne »
Wednesday's walk left me shattered. And having needed yesterday's rest to give me enough energy to today's leg I know I'll not be out again this week. So five walks in seven days; not a bad first attack on the rest of the coastline.

« Hamble-le-Rice | Portsmouth »
Note: I originally walked this section together with the section from Southampton to Hamble. The entire section from Southampton to Gosport (and the distance covered) is included in the Southampton to Hamble entry.

A long day
« Hythe, Hampshire | Warsash »
Note: this write-up (and the distance above) describes the entire route from Southampton to Gosport via the ferry over the Hamble. Because I have since walked out the ferry, I have created a new entry for the second half of the walk.
Today's walk started amongst the commercial docks in Southampton. It ended beside the warships of Portsmouth Harbour, and in between heard representations from all communities of England.

Across the forest
« Christchurch | Southampton »
The Rules are starting to shape themselves now. I'd like to stick rigidly to the coast, but east of Lymington that's not possible. And while the Solent Way follows rights of way closest to the sea as far as Beaulieu, from there it takes a direct route across the New Forest to Hythe and the ferry to Southampton.

Five-foot fsck
« Sandbanks | Hythe, Hampshire »
A couple of miles east of Christchurch is Barton-on-Sea. I've been here before: in 1990, with Jay. We were going out at the time, and celebrated completion of our A-levels by camping in the New Forest for a week. Our one day-trip away from the forest was to the coast, to Barton.
