[Castle Point, Fishguard]

Ascent: unknown
Duration: 3 hours 30 minutes

Making up for lost time (pt 2)

The pub at Pwllgwaelod was shut (permanently?), so my lunch plans remained focussed on my packed lunch. I ate at the caravan park at Penryhn; everything was closed, but I imagine in the tourist season it'd make a great convenience stop.

Fishguard seems to go on forever, but it's an attractive town. Particularly surprising was the circle of standing stones overlooking the quay in Cwm. Newport had a burial chamber just outside the town too; in both cases they weren't marked as tourist attractions - more a case of everyday furniture. It reminded me how different parts of the country are; in Suffolk this would be a major archealogical site!

The hourly bus back to Newport returned me to the car. Anyone planning to walk the next stage should note that the bus from Trefin drops you off in Fisguard Square, so it's probably worth stopping this walk in Fishguard and tacking the walk up to Goodwick onto the front of tomorrow's walk.
